Baseball Forecast- 5/27/25

Hello everybody, it’s that time of year again and baseball forecasts are back in full swing! We’ve got some teams from last summer that we will be continuing forecasts for as well as some new teams to see. Our teams are all over the country so let’s dive into the details!

New York Yankees

Tonight the Yankees continue their away series in Los Angeles against the Angels at 6:38 PDT. It will be warm and sticky as temperatures will stay in the mid-60’s for most of the game but humidity will be increasing going from 60% in the first three innings up to 76% in the final stretch. Despite the high humidity, we aren’t looking at any rain and minimal cloud cover for the evening. Surface winds will be low and the winds at 150ft will be stronger in the first half of the game, around 12 mph compared to the second half, around 9 mph. These winds are pointing out towards center field. The winds moving towards the outfield along with the higher humidity will help overall ball motion further into the outfield. Higher humidity and warmer temperatures makes the air less dense and therefore allows for the ball to travel slightly further. Overall, a fairly warm game but once the sun sets it will feel very nice!

To close out the series against the Angels, the Yankees play in Los Angeles on Wednesday at 6:38 PDT. Like Tuesday temperatures will be in the mid-60’s. Humidity will start around 60% and increase to about 69% by the end of the game. Cloud cover will be greater than Tuesday, with cloud coverage of about 40% for the game with no chance for rain. Winds will be towards center field with winds very minimal. The main effects on ball motion will come from the humidity again. Players and spectators will likely feel very comfortable in this weather as it should be a fairly nice evening!

Brooklyn Cyclones

The Cyclones start a home series against the Aberdeen IronBirds this week starting with a game tonight at 6pm EDT. Temperatures will be in the low 60’s for the game. Humidity will be high, around 70% with cloudy skies. Rain is not likely despite the humidity and cloud coverage. Winds will be calm at the surface and up at 150ft they will start around 17 mph but slowly decrease to around 12 mph by the end of the game. Winds will be inwards towards home plate, so it might be the pitchers game to play. It might be a cool one for spectators, especially in some upper level seats.

Wednesday’s home game against the IronBirds takes place at 11am EDT. Since it is a day game, temperatures will be nearing their peak especially in the later innings. Temperatures will be around 60 degrees which is much cooler than more inland due to being right by the water. Humidity will be high, around 78% with surface winds around 5 mph. Winds at 150ft will be around 9 mph in towards home base. It will be a cloudy day so it will feel quite cool but for players that humidity will be felt a bit more than for a spectator. No rain in the forecast, so it will be a pretty good day game!

The Cyclones continue their series against the IronBirds on Thursday at 6:40pm EDT. Temperatures will be at 65 degrees for the game with very high humidity at 96%. Rain will have just moved out the area a few hours prior which will leave that moist, sticky feeling in the air. It will remain quite cloudy put which means the ground will likely still be very wet. This might affect some players on the field and especially in the grassy outfield. The air will be rising and with the high humidity, it might help hitters get that extra few inches on the ball into the outfield. Winds will be pointing towards home plate but at 150ft they are only around 8 mph which is not very strong. At the surface winds will be around 4 mph so there won’t be much breeze to help with that sticky feeling.

Rocket City Trash Pandas

New to the baseball forecasts this year are the Rocket City Trash Pandas. They start a home series against our other forecast team, the Biloxi Shuckers. Tonight’s game will take place at 6:35pm CDT. Temperatures will start at around 75 degrees but cool down to 72 degrees after sunset. Humidity will be relatively high starting at around 75% and increasing to around 85% by the end of the game. Cloud coverage will be 100% and winds at the surface will be calm. Even at 150ft winds will only be around 8 mph and pointing towards left center field. Even though the ballpark forecast below doesn’t predict rain as of now, I could see some scattered showers being in the nearby area, which may cause some delays. This area is in the marginal risk for severe weather with the slight risk area in central Alabama, not too far from our area. Be sure to keep a lookout as we get closer to game time tomorrow as things can change and some of these storms may be closer to the field than we currently expect. I wouldn’t be completely surprised if we do see some rain come during the scheduled game time.

The Trash Pandas continue their home series against the Shuckers at 6:35pm CDT on Wednesday. Temperatures will be in the mid-70’s with humidity starting in the low 80% and increasing to the mid-80% range by the final innings. It will be early cloudy, with cloud coverage around 50%. There is a slight chance of precipitation as we have some showers to the south and west. Some of those storms may produce lightning that may cause disruption to our area and potentially the game. That will be something to watch closer to game time. Winds will be calm at the surface and at 150ft. The main things to lookout for on Wednesday is the nearby showers and storms causing issues for the game.

Thursday night’s game against the Shuckers will take place at 6:35pm CDT. Temperatures will be in the low 70’s with humidity in the 60% range and increasing as the evening goes on. It will be partly cloudy out which means in the early innings, before sunset we will see some sunshine. Sunset will be along the first base line so our left outfielder especially, and other outfields may see some glare with the sun setting. Winds at the surface will be calm and at 150ft they will be around 10 mph. The winds will be going out towards center field which will help with ball motion going out towards the outfield. Overall, beautiful weather to play some spring baseball!
