To start our week we have our Yankees at home with all three of our southeastern teams also at home. For all four teams scattered rain showers seem to be a common theme with some scattered thunderstorms in the picture. Scattered thunderstorms are quite the sign of summer coming especially in the southeast so let’s get into the details of it!
New York Yankees
Tonight the Yankees continue a home series against the Los Angeles Angels at 7:05pm EDT. Temperatures will be in the mid-60s with humidity at almost 100%. It will feel cool and damp out with minimal surface winds. At 150ft the winds will be around 6 mph pointing towards the infield. It will be a cloudy day with showers to the north and some showers moving in from the west after the game. With the high humidity, it will keep the balls rising more, especially fly balls. Be on the lookout for some drizzle and showers during the game time.

Wednesday’s home game against the Angels starts at 7:05pm EDT. Temperatures will be in the low-70s with humidity at almost 100%. It will be a cloudy evening with showers in the area. It is supposed to rain in the first half of the game but the rain shouldn’t be heavy. Since most forecast radars show 3 hour time gaps, it’s hard to look at the showers on a radar but on a radar you can see the showers jump past the stadium area which tells us there will be rain. Because of this I chose not to insert a radar because it wasn’t helpful however, I do recommend for anyone going to this game or for players to check the radars closer to the game time. Winds for this game will be calm at all levels and ball motion will be rising which will be beneficial for fly balls. Be on the watch for potential rain delays and if your attending bring some rain gear!

Closing out the home series against the Angels, the Yankees play Thursday at 1:05pm EDT. It will be a warm afternoon game with temperatures in the mid-80s. Humidity will be around 65% with mostly cloudy skies that will start to clear throughput the game. There will be some showers to the north and west, and after the game this area will get some rain showers and potential a thunderstorm. Winds at the surface will be calm and at 150ft they will be around 15 mph. These winds will be pointing towards left center field. If you plan on attending this game you should be clear of some rain but it will be quite warm out. However, do note that if your going out for a while after the game, you will likely run into some rain showers!

Biloxi Shuckers
The Shuckers start their week long home series against the Knoxville Smokies starting with tonight’s game at 6:35pm CDT. There will be some scattered rain showers in the area in the early innings of the scheduled game time. It will be a cloudy evening with temperatures in the low-80s. Humidity will be around 76% with calm winds at the surface. Up at 150ft, they will be around 13 mph pointing towards the left field foul line as they come off the water. The ball will be rising very well but unfortunately the wind might take those fly balls out to the foul line. If you plan on attending this game tonight, be prepared some showers early in the game and maybe a rain delay although the rain should be light enough to just play through it.

Wednesday’s game against the Smokies will take place at 6:35pm CDT. Temperatures will be in the low-80s with partly cloudy skies as we see some showers to the south. Humidity will be around 80% with calm surface winds. Up at 150ft the winds will be around 15 mph pointing towards the left field foul line coming off the water. With a bit of sun in the evening, there will be some glare for the outfields for this game and it will be quite hot and humid.

Thursday’s 6:35pm CDT game continues the Shucker’s series against the Smokies. Temperatures will be in the low-80s with humidity around 80%. It will be partly cloudy with some thunderstorms in Louisiana that shouldn’t affect our game. Winds will be pointing towards left field with calm surface winds and winds at 150ft of around 15 mph. The air will be sinking which might prohibit fly balls from getting the extra inch they need to get over the fence. It will feel pretty sticky out with high humidity and hot temperatures so be mindful of that!

Birmingham Barons
Tonight at 7pm CDT, the Barons start a home series against the Columbus Clingstones. There are scattered showers and thunderstorms in the area, especially in the first few innings. This may affect the start time of the game if they end up being heavy showers. For the rest of the game it will be cloudy with humidity at nearly 90%. Temperatures throughout the game will be in the low-70s with calm surface winds. Winds at 150ft will be around 15 mph pointing towards left field. If you plan on attending this game tonight be sure to check out local weather and radar before the game to check on some of those expected rain showers.

The Barons continue playing the Clingstones at 5pm CDT on Wednesday for two games. It will be partly cloudy to start the first game and will clear up for the second game. Temperatures will be in the low-80s for the first game and the high-70s for the second game. Humidity will start around 70% and increase to 81% as we head into the later hours of the night. Winds will be around 5 mph at the surface with gusts up to 15 mph for both games. It should be a good night to get both games in since the second game is a makeup game from May. Since our makeup game is considered an “away” game but is being played in Birmingham which means there is no graphic for these games.
Thursday’s game against the Clingstones takes place at 7pm CDT. Rain showers and scattered thunderstorms will be in the area but shouldn’t affect our game much. Temperatures will be in the mid-70s with humidity around 90%. Cloud coverage will start as mostly cloudy but start to clear up a bit to partly cloudy skies. Winds will be calm at all levels and ball motion will be relatively stable. This means gameplay will only be affected by some ground moisture that could be left over from previous showers. Be sure to check your local weather closer to game time to check on these scattered showers.

Rocket City Trash Pandas
The Trash Pandas start a new home series against the Chattanooga Lookouts tonight at 6:35pm CDT. It will be raining for the majority of the scheduled game time which may cause a postponement if the rain is too heavy which is possible with a thunderstorm. A thunderstorm could be possible due to the humidity at around 90%. We also see it with the winds picking up at 150ft in the first few innings and being strong throughout the game. AT the surface winds will be calm with cooler temperatures in the low-70s. Be on the lookout for updates about this game especially if local weather reports show more thunderstorms in the area. I suggest taking a look at the Southern MS/LA/AL forecast for today for more details!

At 4:05pm CDT on Wednesday the Trash Pandas play the Lookouts for two games. The start of the first game might see some lingering showers which will definitely keep the field wet. However the remainder of the evening should be pretty clear! Temperatures will be around 80 degrees for game 1 and in the high-70s for game 2. Humidity will be around 80% with calm winds for the night. At 150ft we will see winds around 14 mph which will point towards left field. The rain should stay away which means the scheduled makeup should be able to take place which will be helpful since plenty of games could get postponed during the summer from these summer scattered southern thunderstorms.

Thursday’s home game against the Lookouts takes place at 6:35pm CDT. Some rain showers will be in the area for the first half of the game which scattered thunderstorms nearby. Hopefully these won’t affect our game but the possibility cannot be completely ruled out. Temperatures will be in the mid-70s with humidity around 90% which will make it feel very sticky out. It will be mostly cloudy with rising air from the high humidity. Winds at the surface will be calm and at 150ft they will be around 9 mph pointing towards left field. This will allow for fly balls to get a few extra inches towards left field but it may push some to be foul balls. Like I’ve mentioned with such scattered showers that can pop in out of almost nowhere, it will be important to check the local weather as we get closer to game time and be alert for changes in game time if scattered thunderstorms end up near the ballpark.
