We have a hot weekend ahead of us across the east as we head into the end of July. The Yankees come back home for the weekend while our minor league teams from earlier this week stay at home. Hot and humid is the theme of this weekend but thankfully it will be quite clear as well. Let’s get into the details!
New York Yankees
The Yankees starts a home series against the Philadelphia Phillies tonight at 7:05pm EDT. It will be 79 degrees outside with clear skies. Humidity will be around 80-85% with calm surface winds. Winds at 150ft will be pointing towards center field around 8 mph. Air motion will be naturally rising which will be helpful in keeping those fly balls afloat. It will be a pretty humid night which will make it feel moist and sticky out despite the lower temperature than normal.

The Yankees continue their home series against the Phillies on Saturday at 1:05pm EDT. Temperatures will be in the mid-80s with humidity around 55%. It will be a mostly cloudy night with calm winds at the surface. At 150ft, winds will be around 8 mph pointing towards the infield. Air motion will be naturally rising which is helpful to fly balls, but the winds will be going against that air motion so it will be there may end up being no real effects. A hotter night than Friday but a lot less sticky feeling!

The Yankees conclude their home series against the Phillies at 1:35pm EDT on Sunday. Temperatures will be in the low-80s with mostly cloudy skies. Humidity will be around 65-70% with calm surface winds. Winds will be pointing towards left field at around 10 mph at 150ft. There will be some showers moving into the later afternoon, none should effect the game, but may effect people’s commutes back home after the game.

Biloxi Shuckers
The Shuckers continue their home series against our very own Rocket City Trash Pandas at home tonight at 6:35pm CDT. Temperatures will be around 81 degrees with humidity around 75-85%. It will be a cloudy evening with the chance for a scattered thunderstorms. Winds will be around 4 mph at the surface dan round 20-25 mph at 150ft. Winds will be pointing towards the left field foul line. Since the winds will be so strong, they will definitely play a role in moving fly balls towards left field more. It will be super cloudy for the post-game fireworks show which may mean they get postponed or will be hard to see.

The Shuckers continue their home series against the Trash Pandas on Saturday at 6:05pm CDT. Temperatures will be around 84 degrees with humidity around 75%. It will be a mostly cloudy night with calm surface winds. At 150ft winds will be around 12 mph pointing towards the infield. Air motion will be naturally sinking and with winds going towards the infield, this will make it a bit harder for batters to get their fly balls over the wall. It will be a sticky evening with the higher humidity and temperatures so it will be important to stay hydrates and as always be on the watch for scattered thunderstorms.

Sunday’s game against the Trash Pandas will take place at 5:05pm CDT. It will be a clear evening with temperatures in the upper-80s with calm surface winds. Humidity will be around 65-70% with natural air motion. Winds at 150ft will be around 11 mph pointing towards left field. These winds will help batters get a cupola inches on their fly balls. A pretty hot night but the clear skies will leave it feeling warmer and give outfielders a string glare as the sun sets.

Birmingham Barons
The Barons start a home series at 7pm CDT tonight against the Montgomery Biscuits. It will be a partly cloudy evening with almost no chance of rain and temperatures in the mid-80s. Humidity will start around 50% and increase to around 70% by the end of the game. Air motion will be rising and winds at 150ft around 10 mph pointing towards the infield means that ball motion will likely be up to the players and not weather based. Another hot evening but the humidity being a bit lower will make it a bit less sticky.

The Barons continue their home series against the Biscuits on Saturday night at 6:30pm CDT. Temperatures will be in the upper-80s with clear skies. Humidity will be around 45-55% with calm winds at the surface. Winds at 150ft will be around 12 mph pointing towards the left field foul line. There will be naturally rising air which will help move fly balls further into the air. However combined with the winds, we may see more fly balls this game. Another hot one but the humidity will be lower than normal which will keep it quite clear for a good evening of baseball!

The Barons close out their home series against the Biscuits at 4pm CDT on Thursday. Temperatures will be hot, in the mid-90s with humidity around 45%. Surface winds will be calm, pointing towards the outfield and winds at 150ft will be around 10 mph. Air motion will be sinking which won’t be the best for fly balls, but winds will help overcome that. It will be partly cloudy which means the sun beating down will make it feel even hitter. Be sure to hydrate and stay cool during this game and be on the lookout for a scattered thunderstorm in the region!

Hudson Valley Renegades
The Renegades continue a home series this week against the Rome Emperors starting with a game tonight at 7:05pm EDT. It will be a mostly cloudy evening with temperatures in the low-80s with humidity in around 70%. It will be a little rainy during batting practice but it should clear up enough for the game and for the post-game fireworks. Winds will be calm at the surface and around 8 mph at 150ft pointing towards center field. Air motion will be naturally sinking which won’t be super beneficial to fly ball motion. It will be pretty hot and streamy especially because of the moisture in the air but it should remain clear for the evening!

The Renegades continue their home series against the Emperors Saturday at 5:05pm EDT. It will be a hot one with temperatures in the upper-80s and partly cloud skies. Humidity will be around 40-50% with calm surface winds. At 150ft, winds will be around 7 mph pointing towards right field. It will be very hot especially since the sun will be out for a good portion of the game!

Sunday night the Renegades finish their home series against the Emperors at 6:35pm EDT. Temperatures will start around 85 degrees and cool to around 79 degrees by the end of the game. Humidity will be around start around 65% and increase to around 85% by the final innings. This increase in humidity comes with some showers that will move into the area and bring rain and the potential for thunderstorms. The rain may be heavy over the area which would cause a delay, however I believe it wouldn’t be super heavy until after the game. This might affect people leaving the game, but the game should be able to finish. Winds will be calm at the surface and around 11 mph pointing towards left field at 150ft. Be sure to check the local weather for better updates on these scattered showers before the game!
