As we head into the middle of August, we feel the temperatures heating up! The Yankees play in St. Louis under heat advisories and our southeast teams feel the heat as well. Almost no rain in the weekend view so let’s get into the details!
New York Yankees
The Yankees start an away series against the St. Louis Cardinals at 7:15pm CDT tonight. It will be a scorcher, with a heat advisory in the area. Temperatures will be around 100 degrees during batting practice and will cool to only 90 degrees by the end of the game. It will be mostly cloudy which will help keep the sun at bay while it’s out for the first few innings. Humidity will be around 30-35% which won’t make it feel sticky on the already hot temperatures. There will be almost no winds and air motion will be naturally sinking quite a bit. Players will already be feeling weaker with the super hot temperatures so it would be possible to see below average runs from both teams. We will also likely see pitchers last only a few innings at best because of the heat. It will be super important for people to hydrate and stay cool for this game as this type of heat is quite dangerous when being outside.

The Yankees continue their away series in St. Louis against the Cardinals at 6:15pm CDT. It will be a super hot game with heat advisories in the region. Temperatures will be in the low-90s with humidity will be around 50-60%. It will be a partly cloudy evening and before sunset it will be pretty sunny which will make it feel even hotter. Winds will be quite calm which means they will have almost no effect on the game. The heat will affect players the most and it will be likely for players having to take more breaks during this game and need to hydrate more. For spectators it will be important to stay cool and hydrated so you can enjoy the game while staying cool!
*Unfortunately no graphic for this game*
The Yankees conclude their away series against the Cardinals on Sunday afternoon at 1:15pm CDT. This afternoon game will be super hot as skies will be clear and we will see full sun at its peak. Temperatures will be around 98 degrees with humidity around 35%. Like the other games in this series, the heat will be the major weather impact on the players and especially after they played two previous games in the heat, by this game it would be expected for them to be quite tried and drained. Players will be more sluggish and may make more errors than normal because the heat will affect their mental and physical game. For spectators it will be important to stay in shaded areas and drink plenty of water in order to enjoy the game!

Biloxi Shuckers
The Shuckers continue their home series this week tonight at 6:35pm CDT against the Columbus Clingstones. It will be a partly cloudy night with temperatures around 83 degrees with humidity around 80%. Surface winds will be calm while at 150ft, they will be around 15mph pointing towards the left field foul line. These strong winds at 150ft will affect right handed batters as they will be more likely to hit a foul ball than the left handed batters. The Shuckers average around 1 home run per game but I would give about a 40% chance of a home run being hit this game due to the winds going across the outfield. Even with the partly cloudy skies, it should be clear enough for the post-game fireworks show!

The Shuckers play the Clingstones on Saturday at home at 6:05pm CDT. Temperatures will be in the mid-80s with partly cloudy skies and humidity around 75-85%. The high humidity will make it feel quite sticky out and the air will be naturally rising due to this higher amount of moisture in the air. Winds won’t give ,much reiflef wither with calm surface winds and winds only 6mph at 150ft. This means winds will have minimal affects on the game and the biggest effect on players will be the hot temperatures mixed with the high moisture content that will make the air feel heavy and make players sweat more. This may mean we see more pitchers getting subbed out in the game. For spectators and players, it will be important to hydrate and stay in cooled or shaded areas throughout the game!

The Shuckers finish their series against the Clingstones on Sunday at 5:05pm CDT. It will be a mostly cloudy evening with temperatures around 85 degrees. Humidity will be around 70% with air motion naturally rising. Winds will be calm at all levels which means like Saturday, the main weather impact will be the hot and humid conditions. What will make this game slightly better than Saturday, will be the lack on sun which will make it feel a bit cooler but it will still be very important to still hydrate and try to keep cool.

Brooklyn Cyclones
The Cyclones continue their home series against the Hub City Spartanburgers tonight at 6:40pm EDT. It will be a clear night until the later innings when clouds will move into the area. These clouds may make it hard to see the post-game fireworks show however, it will not rain so they will likely go on. Temperatures will be in the mid-70s with humidity around 85-95%. This crazy moisture comes from showers in the region that will increase the moisture and cause the air to naturally rise. Winds will be around 8 mph at the surface and up at 150ft, around 13 mph. These winds will be pointing towards the infield which means we have almost a 70% chance of not seeing a home run because the winds will push back fly balls almost 40 feet (19 feet per 5 mph of wind). The air will feel quite heavy and sticky during this game so even though temperatures won’t be hot, it will still be crucial to stay hydrated!

On Saturday night at 6pm EDT, the Cyclones continue their home series against the Spartanburgers. Temperatures will be in the mid-70s but with high humidity, around 75-85% that will still make the air feel warm and sticky. It will be a clear night with surface winds around 6 mph with winds at 150ft around 11 mph. Winds will be blowing towards the infield which will make it harder to hit a home run and fly balls will be pushed around 38 feet back. The Cyclones have one of the hardest stadiums in the minor league to hit a home run because of these stronger winds that come off the shore. For spectators, it will be a fairly nice night!

The Cyclones close out their home series against the Spartanburgers at 2pm EDT. Since this game is in the afternoon, there will be peak sunlight and temperatures during this game. Temperatures will be around 89 degrees with humidity around 50%. It will be a clear afternoon which means the sun will be beating down on everyone and will make it feel even hotter outside. Especially for players, it will make them feel hot and have them perform slightly slower. Surface winds will be around 6 mph and winds at 150ft will be around 10 mph pointing towards the left field foul line. Air motion will be sinking quite a bit and with the cross field winds, we can expect a around 95% chance of no home runs because of the tough conditions between the heat, wind, and air motion. It will be crucial for everyone in attendance to hydrate, take breaks, and wear sunscreen in order to have a good time at this hot afternoon game!

Hudson Valley Renegades
The Renegades continue their home series against the Aberdeen IronBirds tonight at 7:05pm EDT. Temperatures will start around 87 degrees and cool to around 80 degrees as the sun sets and we the air cools off. Humidity will increase as temperatures decrease and go from around 40% to around 60% by the end of the game. Surface winds will be calm while up at 150ft, they will start around 7 mph and increase to around 14 mph by the final innings. These winds will be pointing towards the infield, with air motion naturally sinking for most of the game. This will make it hard for both teams to get those extra feet on the ball especially coming in the final innings, we can expect a 70% chance of no home runs this game. It will be a clear evening which will be good for the post-game fireworks show which will be great for spectators!

Saturday night continues the Renegades home series against the IronBirds at 5:05pm EDT. Temperatures will be in the mid-80s with humidity around 55-60%. It will be a pretty clear evening with air motion that is relatively neutral. Winds at the surface will be calm while up at 150ft, they will be around 7 mph, blowing towards left field. These winds in left field may help out some right handed batters in getting those extra inches on the ball. The warm temperatures will also cause some grip issues for pitchers which will also benefit hitters. For spectators it will, feel pretty warm but as the sun sets, it will feel a bit better as the evening goes on!

Sunday afternoon’s 2:05pm EDT game against the IronBirds will be at home for the Renegades and will finish out their series. It will be a hot afternoon with partly cloudy skies, which means a good amount of sunlight beating down on the stadium. Temperatures will be at their peak, around 90 degrees with humidity around 45%. Surface winds will be calm and at 150ft, winds will be around 12 mph blowing towards center field. This will greatly help all batters and give them almost 38 feet of help with getting fly balls further in the outfield. This means we could see a 10% chance of more than 1 home run this game as the Renegades average around 1 home run per game. It will be hot which will make players feel a bit weak still but it will likely affect pitchers more and they will likely last not as many innings. It will be crucial for players and spectators to hydrate and take breaks.

Rocket City Trash Pandas
The Trash Pandas take on the Knoxville Smokies for a home series starting tonight at 6:35pm CDT. It will be a partly cloudy night but it will start to clear up as the evening goes on. Temperatures will start around 90 degrees but will cool to the mid-80s by the end of the game. Humidity will remain around 50% and surface winds will be calm. At 150ft, winds will be around 8 mph to start the game but die down to almost no wind by the end of the game. Air motion will be relatively neutral so the major weather factor will be the hot temperatures. These hot temperatures will make it super hot for players and they will definitely feel the effects of it after the first few innings. Spectators will also have to stay in the shade and be sure to hydrate to stay cool throughout the game!

The Trash Pandas play against the Smokies at home on Wednesday at 6:35pm CDT. It will be a party cloudy evening with temperatures in the mid-80s and humidity around 65%. Air motion will be naturally sinking and with almost no winds at any level. The hot temperatures will make it harder for batters to get the extra power they will need to overcome the sinking air and I believe we have a 75% chance of seeing no home runs since game since the Trash Pandas have a 0.7 home run average per game. It will be difficult for both teams dealing with the heat and the sun keeping it warm in the first few innings.

Thursday at 2:35pm CDT the Trash Pandas will play the Smokies at home. It will be a hot afternoon as we hit peak temperatures and sun for the day. Temperatures will be in the low-90s with humidity around 50%. The mostly clear skies will not help the heat as the sun will be overhead everyone at the game. There will be no wind which won’t give any relief for anyone. Air motion will be neutral but the main weather factor will be the heat. this will greatly weaken players and they will need to take more breaks. Even spectators will need to take frequent breaks in the shade and make sure to drink plenty of water to stay cool. It will be important to wear sunscreen and protective clothing and try to stay cool in this summer heat!
