Baseball Forecast- 8/5/25

The heat has calmed down a bit this week across the east which leaves us with some nice games to talk about for the start of the week. The Yankees play against the Rangers in their indoor stadium which means they get to play in some lovely air conditioning. Still lots to mention when it comes to the weather so let’s get into the details!

New York Yankees

The Yankees start an away series against the Texas Rangers at 7:05pm CDT. The Rangers play inside of a dome so weather won’t affect the actual game. The dome is kept at 72-74 degrees and air motion will be relatively neutral which means gameplay and ball motion is almost 100% up to the players and no weather excuses can be made here. However, weather will still affect people going to and leaving the stadium. It will be a hot evening in Arlington which means if you’re waiting outside the stadium, be sure to wear sunscreen and bring water to stay cool while you wait for the gates to open. It will be clear so the sun will be beating down as you wait outside. After the game, temperatures will still be hot, around 88 degrees, so make sure you get the AC in the car on as soon as you get there!

Baseball Forecast for Tuesday at Globe Life Field

The Yankees close out their away series against the Rangers on Wednesday at 1:35pm CDT. It will be a sunny and hot afternoon as expected for the summer in Texas. Thankfully for the game no one will be feeling the effects of the sun but as spectators wait at the gates for the game, the sun will be at it’s peak and temperatures will be in the mid to upper-90s. Those temperatures will last even after the game for people’s travels home. Be sure to wear sunscreen and drink plenty of water and try to have a water to go home with you after the game, especially if you have to walk a bit to get where you’re going. Enjoy the AC during the game because outside of the stadium is super hot!

Birmingham Barons

The Barons start their home series against the Chattanooga Lookouts at home tonight at 7pm CDT. Temperatures will be in the mid to upper-70s for game time with humidity starting around 70% and increasing to around 80%. It will be a partly cloudy evening with no rain in the forecast. Winds will be calm at the surface while up at 150ft, they will be around 9 mph. These winds will pointing towards the infield which means it will affect batters from getting those pop flys over the wall by around 38 feet (19 feet per 5 mph). Rising air will affect pitchers with their pitches, as the air will take their sliders into the strike zone. It will overall be a nice night for spectators but it will get quite sticky as the evening continues.

Baseball Forecast for Tuesday at Regions Field

The Barons continue their home series against the Lookouts on Wednesday night at 7pm CDT. Temperatures will be in the low-80s with humidity around 70-80% that will be increasing throughout the game. It will be partly cloudy out with almost no wind at the surface and even at 150ft, winds will be calm. This means that air motion and humidity will have the greatest effects on ball motion this evening. With sinking air becoming more neutral as humidity increases, pitchers start to feel more impact as the moisture in the air will make it harder for them to grip the ball. For the batters the air becoming more neutral will be helpful for them getting closer to getting those extra inches on their fly balls. Another sticky evening as the moisture level stays high throughout the game.

Thursday will continue the Baron’s home series against the Lookouts at 7pm CDT. It will be a partly cloud evening with temperatures in the low-80s. Humidity will be increasing as the evening continues going from about 72% to around 80% as the temperatures cool down. Winds will be calm at all levels and will have almost no effect on gameplay. Air motion will be naturally rising which will beneficial to hitters looking for that extra few inches upward on their fly balls. Another nice evening for some baseball as we see pretty average temperatures and moisture in the air!

Hudson Valley Renegades

The Renegades start a home series this week against our very own Brooklyn Cyclones tonight at 6:35pm EDT. It will be a pretty hot evening with temperatures in the mid-80s to start the game and only start to cool to the low-80s by the end of the game. Humidity will be around 40% and increase to around 50% by the final innings. It will be fairly cloudy but we will still see some sunshine peaking through the first half of the game. Surface winds will be calm while at 150ft they will start around 10 mph and increase to around 15 mph by the end of the game. As the winds increase, they will shift from blowing towards the infield from left field, to blowing towards the infield from right field. This will keep batters from getting almost 57 feet on their fly balls and could defiantly decrease the number of home runs by both teams!

Wednesday night continues the Renegades’ home series against the Cyclones at 6:35pm EDT. It will be a partly cloud evening with temperatures in the upper-70s. Humidity will start around 60% but will increase to around 73% by the final innings. Surface winds will be calm while at 150ft they will be around 8 mph blowing towards the left field foul line. Air motion will be naturally sinking but will start to rise more as we see humidity increase. This increase in rising air will start to benefit batters, while the increase in air moisture will cause pitchers to lose some grip on the ball. Overall, it will be a fairly nice evening for some baseball!

Baseball Forecast for Wednesday at Heritage Financial Field

The 6:35pm EDT home game against the Cyclones will take place Thursday night. It will be a clear night with temperatures in the mid to upper-70s. Humidity will be around 50-60% with calm surface winds. Winds at 150ft will be around 10 mph pointing towards the left field foul line. This will make fly balls travel more horizontally and make it easier for right handed batters to hit foul balls. Air motion will be naturally rising as humidity increases which will help offset the cross winds in the outfield. It will also affect how the ball travels out of the pitchers hands by making their balls rise a bit more than usual. A pretty nice evening with lower temperatures than this time last week!
