Baseball Forecast- 8/8/25

The east starts to heat up a bit this weekend as the Yankees and Renegades play at home. As for the southeast, we will stay on the slightly cooler than normal side which will leave us with some great weather for the weekend. Clear skies across the board so let’s get into it!

New York Yankees

The Yankees start a home series this weekend against the Houston Astros starting tonight at 7:05pm EDT. It will be a clear night with only some clouds moving into the area in the later innings. Temperatures will start in the upper-70s and cool to the low-70s by the end of the game. Humidity is around 40-50% with calm surface winds and at 150ft winds will be around 10 mph. Winds will be pointing towards the left field foul line which will leave a better chance for right handed batters to hit foul balls. Air motion will shift from more sinking air to more rising air has we see moisture move into the region. Overall, a nice night for some baseball!

The Yankees continue the home series against the Astros on Saturday at 2:05pm EDT. Temperatures will be in the mid-80s with humidity around 20-25% which will make the air feel quite nice and warm out. Surface winds will be calm while at 150ft they will be around 6 mph. These winds will be pointing towards the infield which will be more beneficial to the pitchers. Air motion will be sinking which means for batters they can expect they fly balls to be shorter and also expect lower balls in the strike zone.

The Yankees close out their home series against the Astros on Sunday at 1:35pm EDT. Temperatures will be in the low-90s as we head into the peak heat of the day and with limited cloud coverage, the sun will be right overhead everyone. Humidity will be low around 25% which means it will be drier but players will likely be sweating a bunch which means they are less likely to hit as many home runs and pitchers will likely need more breaks or be subbed out earlier. Winds at all levels will be relatively calm and air motion will be sinking due to the lack of moisture in the air. Moisture creates more lift and since we lack that on Sunday, fly balls won’t move as far in the air.

Birmingham Barons

The Barons continue their home series against the Chattanooga Lookouts at home tonight at 7pm CDT. It will be a clear night with temperatures in the low-80s to upper-70s for the game. Humidity will be around 60% with calm surface winds. Winds at 150ft will be blowing towards the infield around 10 mph. Air motion will be naturally rising which will be beneficial to fly balls. However the wind and the air motion are contracting each other here which may just mean we end up with a game that isn’t too much weather related but relies on the players abilities this time. It will feel a bit hot in the first few innings while the sun is still out, but once the sun sets, it will be a wonderful evening!

Baseball Forecast for Friday at Regions Field

The Barons play the Lookouts at 6:30pm CDT on Saturday evening at home. Temperatures will be in the low-80s for this clear evening. Humidity will be around 60-70% with calm surface winds. Winds at 150ft will be around 15 mph blowing towards the left field foul line. With the humidity increasing, we can expect ball motion to be rising which will help out our batters but with winds pointing towards left field, right handed batters will be more likely to hit foul balls than homers. It will be another nice evening for players and spectators alike!

*Unfortunately no graphic for this game*

The Barons close out their series against the Lookouts at 4pm on Sunday. Temperatures will be in the mid to low-80s with humidity around 60-70%. We will see cloudy skies for most of the game with calm surface winds. The major weather factor will be the winds at 150ft that will be around 10 mph blowing towards the infield. This will make the ball miss a home run by around 38 feet (19 feet per 5 mph of wind). Air motion is only slightly rising so that may make that 38 feet slightly less but not enough to avoid that effect in general. Be onboard the watch for some shorter fly balls this game as we see those winds go against the hitters.

Hudson Valley Renegades

The Renegades continue their home series this weekend against our very own Brooklyn Cyclones tonight at 7:05pm EDT. It will be a clear game which will be great for the post-game fireworks show. Temperatures will be in the mid-70s for most of the game with humidity around 40%. This will leave a nice feeling in the air and it will be perfect for spectators. Surface winds will be around 3 mph while at 150ft they will be around 12 mph pointing towards the left field foul line. Air motion will be rising so that will be helpful to batters, but the winds blowing out will definitely affect right handed batters more as they will likely hit more fly foul balls than normal.

Saturday night continues the Renegades’ home series against the Cyclones at 5:05pm EDT. Temperatures will start in the low-80s but cool to the mid-70s by the end of the game. Humidity will be around 30% to start and increase to around 50% by the final innings. Winds will be calm at all levels and air motion will be our major factor as we see sinking air for the entire game. This means batters will struggle more to keep their fly balls up and will allow for pitchers to get more from their sliders. It will be a clear evening and will be great weather for everyone outside!

Baseball Forecast for Saturday at Heritage Financial Field

Sunday will close out the Renegades’ home series against the Cyclones at 2:05pm EDT. As with most afternoon games, we will be seeing our hottest temperatures of the day and peak sunshine. For this game we will have partly cloudy skies with temperatures at around 87 degrees. Humidity will be low at around 32% with almost no winds at any levels. Our motion will be ant aura;ly rising a bit, which will help with keep fly balls up a few extra feet, but I don’t believe it will be substantial. The main weather factor that will affect this game is the hotter temperatures and direct sunlight that will make players and even spectators, feel quite hot. It will be very important for everyone to hydrate, take breaks, and stay in the shade as much as possible!
