Winter returns, with snow possible

Okay, I have to be honest with everyone this morning. The first half of this week – based on the latest computer weather models – is looking increasingly snowier.

Now, I mentioned all week between 1-4 inches was possible. But I might have to “up” those a tad on Monday morning.

The GFS, GEM, NAM and EMCWF forecast models all paint in the chance for snow on Monday night through Tuesday afternoon and evening. And with each new model run we get whiter.

Here’s the breakdown as it looks right now.

GEM = 3″-10″ (Heaviest snow in NE counties)

GFS = 2″-5″ (Heaviest snow in NE counties)

NAM = 5″-14″ (Heaviest snow in N & NE counties)

EMCWF = 2″-6″ (Heaviest snow in E counties)

Wow, right?

Well, these number will likely change. I still think the snow totals will stay below 6 inches – especially for the city of Amarillo.

With all of the data available now, I tend to think the city will be in the 2-3 inch range.

But again, that may change.

In fact, just 24 hours ago the snow totals were much lower – most still had us in the 1-4 inch range – but we will be tracking this next system VERY closely. Make sure you tune in tonight to the news at 10 and Chris Martin will have all the latest details.
