Nick,
My friend at Woodlands, Tx: I dont know what the media is reporting (if at all), but I’ve lived in the Gulf Coast most of my life and experienced multiple major hurricanes. The one that blew thru here yesterday was NOT a Cat1. Not even close.
A Cat1 doesnt cause trees that are 4’-5’ in diameter to uproot or snap in two like we saw all over the place..esp when we’re 85+miles inland. Media friends of mine are saying off-record that their meteorologists on staff are all saying they got bogus info re the size/severity. This was a major storm.
Thanks Nick for all you do and for your coverage of the severe weather here in the Pine Belt yesterday. Can you post the link again for financial support for the app? I want to send a little something for you. Again I do appreciate you and what you do for us. You will always be my go to for weather information.
I came across your diagram/figure with the caption: MCS Cold pool enhances forward propagation of the MCS. It fits very well the subject of a poster I am preparing for presentation at the International Ocean Vector Winds 2025 meeting in Darmstadt (May 5-8). Please can you tell me who I should contact about permission to use this figure in my poster and it’s distribution. You gave a thanks to univ of british columbia, is that sufficient? Thanks in advance.
Nick, Can you suggest a source for weather education. I’m wanting to learn more about weather/marine weather because it affects us everyday. We enjoying boating along the MS coast and barriers islands as well. Looking for a good online source for weather courses. We live in Hattiesburg. I read your web site daily! Thanks
