Forecast: “Rain. Because we are in Oregon. And when is there not rain?”

KBVR-TV, the campus TV station at Oregon State, was one of my favorite places to test my broadcasting skills. And it looks like, for current students, not much has changed.

I’m not sure if Tanis Leach is looking for a job in weather, but man I love his casual take on the weather in Corvallis.

Now, I’m also not quite sure where he got his forecast from – not to say it isn’t accurate, I just don’t know. And I don’t know what data went into his prognostication that winter was over – again, I have no reason to disregard it, I just don’t know where it is coming from.

But! I’m willing to overlook that because at about 1:18 into the clip when he forecasts more rain like he is talking about an annoying little brother.

Here he is talking about “soul crushing rain” a month ago…

This is something I would’ve done had I been given a chance to give a weather forecast as an undergrad.

It also reminds me of what a young Reggie Aqui would’ve done if he was asked to do the weather. As an example, here is Reggie looks like “doing the sports” on TV in San Fran.

I’m proud of you Tanis. Keep up the good work, dude! And keep that casual, dry sense of enthusiasm. We need more people like you on TV.
