Heat this week, storms this weekend: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 5/17/22

Not much changed overnight with the forecast. We are still looking at a few days of some warm temperatures with Heat Index values up around 95 to 100 degrees. Then we have a front try to push into the area this weekend while also monitoring a few clusters of storms developing near the coast.

For as “boring” as the weather will be over the next few days, under the hood there is plenty going on. The good news is that all of that action is pretty meaningless as far as “big impacts” on your day. Just make sure you are drinking some extra water this week as it will be pretty warm, and keep tabs on the weather this weekend if you have outdoor plans.

If you work outside this week, pack a few extra Gatorades if possible and try to take a break from the heat if you start to feel dizzy or light-headed. That is a good first sign that the heat is getting to you, and it is important to stop and cool down for a bit before you cause actual harm to your body.

Otherwise, I’ll continue to monitor the tropical riff-raff, the chance for rain and everything else…. You guys just get out and enjoy life!
