Mild weather continues this weekend, two systems next week: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 2/24/23

We broke a few record lows in the region yesterday. Yup! Not because it was so cold, but because it never actually got cold. We set new record warm low temperatures at Jackson, Hattiesburg, Meridian, and Vicksburg. Lows only got down into the upper 60s and low 70s yesterday morning and then didn’t get below that point before midnight overnight last night, so we set new records!

This is, of course, on the heels of setting record warm high temperatures yesterday afternoon in many of those same spots with afternoon temperatures tagging the low to mid 80s.

Other than than, not much to talk about today! And I’ll take it. A few stray showers here and there through the weekend can’t be completely ruled out, but we should be mostly dry.

Next week’s storm on Monday/Tuesday doesn’t look very robust with severe weather, either. It may be another wind producer, though, with regular non-storm-related wind gusts up to 40mph possible.

Then later next week on Thursday/Friday another system is set to glide through offering another day with some wicked wind around the region. Early model guidance was showing sustained wind around 25mph with wind gusts across the area up around 50mph possibly!

Not a typo. That is Tropical Storm Force gusts!

Now, all of that said, Thursday/Friday is still about a week off. And we will see plenty of changes before it gets here, I’m sure. But even if it pulls back on the wind substantially, we may still be talking about a pretty breezy few days late next week, too.
