Hot and Humid with Afternoon Thunderstorms – Weekend Forecast for South MS/LA/AL 6/4/25

We’re finally in that familiar pattern of early summer heat and afternoon thunderstorms. This pattern won’t change too much into the weekend, however we’ll see some more organized storms move in by Saturday and Sunday as a stationary front feeds some MCS systems our way.

Tonight we’ll have our typical warm and humid evening with patchy fog possible in the early morning hours. Lows will be in the upper 60s to low 70s. Thursday will be a fairly hot day with temperatures in the low 90s but heat indices in the upper 90s. If you’re working outside, be sure to have your sunscreen and electrolytes handy. By the afternoon, a few pop-up thunderstorms will preside over us before we go back into another humid evening. Lows in the low 70s.

Friday will be another hot one with temperatures reaching the mid 90s in some areas with heat indices reaching up to 100. Some more pop-up thunderstorms will be possible during the day, however the MCS towards north Mississippi looks to dissipate by the time it reaches the I-20 corridor. Overnight, the clouds will dissipate with south southwest winds and lows in the low 70s.

By the weekend, the cold front will move further south towards our neck of the woods allowing MCS systems to form and move further southeast. While the model output is a little aggressive from the European model, a decently organized MCS will move in during the afternoon on Saturday across much of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. The SPC has already put out a severe weather outlook for Saturday for areas north of I-20, but I wouldn’t doubt that we may see a few strong storms as it passes. Another system may move in overnight on Saturday as well. The Sunday MCS looks to be less potent than Saturday’s, but rain is likely through more of the day. Highs in the low 90s and lows in the low to mid 70s.
