As we finish out the month of July, we have plenty of baseball games to keep track off to start the week. Some scattered showers as we head into the middle of the week and some may just affect gameplay. Otherwise, hot temperatures will continue across the east. Radars are down below for reference and let’s just get into the details of this one!
New York Yankees
The Yankees continues a home series against the Tampa Bay Rays at 7:05pm EDT. Temperatures will be in the low-90s to start and cool to the mid-80s by the end of the game. Humidity will start around 42% and increase to around 55% by the final innings. It will be a pretty cloudy game with game surface winds staying calm. At 150ft the winds will be around 10-15 mph pointing towards the left field foul line. There is a chance for some lightning in the final innings but no showers are expected. It will be a very hot game so be sure to hydrate and stay cool tonight!

The Yankees continue their home series against the Rays on Wednesday at 7:05pm EDT. It will be a hot evening with temperatures in the low-90s. Humidity will be around 40-45% with calm winds at the surface. Winds at 150ft will be around 9 mph blowing towards left center field. Air motion will be naturally sinking as the humidity remain low in the area. There is a chance of some lightning in the nearby region as some scattered showers hit the region. I’ll be attending this game Wednesday so I am really hoping for the storms to stay away. I hope to see the Yankees win on this hot July evening!

The Yankees conclude their home series against the Rays at 1:05pm EDT on Thursday. Temperatures will be much cooler than the previous games with temperatures around 78 degrees. It will be cloudy and humid as we see showers and scattered thunderstorms roll in the area for game time. This may postpone the game depending on how heavy the rain gets or if lightning strikes nearby. Humidity will be around 87% with air motion naturally rising due to that high humidity. Winds will be calm at all levels so the big weather impact for this game will be those rain showers that will be in the area.

Brooklyn Cyclones
The Cyclones start their home series against the Jersey Shore BlueClaws at home tonight at 6:40pm EDT. Temperatures will be in the mid-80s with humidity around 60%. It will be a clear evening with surface winds of around 9 mph. winds at 150ft will be pointing towards the third baseline around 15 mph. Air motion will be naturally sinking so combined with the more infield winds, this will not be a great evening for batters but instead will favor the pitchers this time around. Overall, a pretty decent night, a bit hot, but that breeze off the coast will help keep it cooler.

The Cyclones continue their home series against the BlueClaws on Wednesday at 6:05pm EDT. It will be a partly cloud game with hot temperatures in the upper-80s. Humidity will remain around 54% with surface winds of around 6 mph pointing towards the left field foul line. At 150ft winds will be around 11 mph and with air motion naturally sinking, this won’t be helpful to batters with fly balls as they likely won’t travel as far and will get shifted towards left field.

Thursday afternoon’s game against the BlueClaws will take place at 12:30pm EDT. Temperatures will be around 80 degrees as we start to hit our hottest temperatures of the day. Unfortunately we are looking at some rain moving into the areas by the scheduled halfway point of the game. Some of these showers may produce lightning which would definitely postpone the game, but the game may still be postponed if the rain gets too heavy. If the rain isn’t heavy enough for a delay, it will affect the gameplay as the field and ball will be wet and won’t be able to travel as far into the outfield. Humidity will be around 80% so the air will feel quite sticky. Air motion is naturally sinking and with no real winds at any level, it won’t be helpful to batters. Keep on the lookout for showers as we head closer to game time!

Rocket City Trash Pandas
The Trash Pandas start a home series at 6:35pm CDT tonight against our very own Birmingham Barons. Temperatures will be around 90 degrees with humidity around 60-65%. It will be a clear night after some passing showers during batting practice. Winds will be quite calm at all levels and air motion will be naturally sinking. This will not help batters get the extra inches they need on the ball and may actually prevent them from getting those homers. It will be a hot evening so be sure to hydrate before the game so you can enjoy this one!

The Trash Pandas continue their home series against the Barons on Wednesday at 6:35pm CDT. Temperatures will be in the upper-70s with showers in the area, especially during the early innings. This may delay the game since some showers may produce lightning. Humidity will be quite high, around 75% to start and increasing to around 90% as those showers start to leave the region. Winds will be below 5 mph at all levels so our main weather player is those rain showers. Be sure to check the local weather before game time to monitor the lightning and watch for game delays.

The Trash Pandas continue playing their home series against the Barons at 6:35pm CDT on Thursday. A mostly cloudy night with no real chance for precipitation. It will be a sticky one with temperatures around 80 degrees and humidity around 85%. Surface winds will be light and at 150ft they will be around 8 mph pointing towards left field. Air motion will be naturally sinking slightly but with winds blowing towards left field, they may end up almost “canceling” each other out and ball motion will likely just come down to the athletes. A steamy one after the showers on Wednesday!
