Storms Today, Mild Weather and Pre-Thanksgiving Rain – Weekly Outlook for South MS/LA/AL 11/21/25

We’re starting this morning off with rain and thunderstorms across much of the southern portion of Mississippi and Louisiana. Storms will remain across much of south/central Mississippi before moving into Alabama this afternoon. The Storm Prediction Center has placed us under a Marginal (1/5) risk for severe weather. The main severe risks we’ll have to deal with are heavy rain, straightline wind gusts, and a possible tornado.

We’ll have a brief period of severe weather possible in the early afternoon as storms gain some traction with more instability. SigTor parameter is still fairly low, but it does mean there is a small chance that one could develop. The MCS itself is moving northeast of Hwy 98 towards the 84 corridor and eventually towards I-20 and Hwy 45.

As we reach the evening hours, the MCS will trail with a small line of storms that could bring one more chance for severe weather in the Pine Belt. The line will be out of here before midnight. Overnight, temperatures will fall into the mid 60s. We’ll have another warm weekend ahead with temperatures around 80 on Saturday and in the mid 70s on Sunday.

Starting off the week, we’ll have another warm day on Monday with highs in the low 80s with southerly winds. Moving into Tuesday, an occluded front will move in bringing a brief warm front and a cold front soon after. Rain and thunderstorms are possible mainly further west into Louisiana and western Mississippi before the line begins to fall apart during the day on Tuesday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible for our area before the storms move out by early Wednesday. Expect some gusty winds as well.

The good news is that Thanksgiving will have more fall-like temperatures. Hooray! Put on your flannels and sweaters as the north winds are going to be gusting a bit. Friday will be similar as temperatures reach the mid 60s during the day, so if you’re out shopping, bring a jacket with you.
