Active weather to close out 2021: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast 12/27/21

Things are looking a bit more active around here as we close out 2021. Mother Nature wouldn’t go out with a whimper, I suppose. She needs to go out with some sort of ‘ang’ for the Southern MS/AL/LA region.

The first hurdle we have to jump over is a midweek shot for some showers, storms and the potential for severe weather.

This setup doesn’t look particularly potent, by any means. Current model data may change, but for now, this looks like a very typical Slight Risk type of day for the region with some passing showers and storms and only a few spots see the severe weather and there may be a few tornadoes across the entire area outlined in green and yellow.

Historically this type of an even doesn’t produce large, strong, or long-track tornadoes. Instead, setups like this produce EF0 and EF1 tornadoes more often.

The second system that is set to move through shows up around Saturday and that one may feature around round of severe weather, too. This one may end up being a bit more potent, but it doesn’t appear to look like anything too ‘outrageous’ within the model data.

The CIPS Analogs suggests a potential, but not much higher than Wednesday’s event.

But let’s clear one hurdle at a time. First things first – Wednesday.
