Building a Hurricane Preparedness Kit

Being prepared for the next hurricane is an important step in making it through the disaster with as little stress as possible. The National Weather Service in Mobile, Alabama has a great couple of pages with information to help you get your kit together.

A quick guide to building an emergency kit

Hurricane Irma, as of this writing a Category 3 hurricane in the Atlantic, is the next hurricane that everyone is concerned about. So, if you live along the Gulf Coast or Feast Coast, now is the time to be thinking about double-checking your kit. And if you don’t have a kit, make sure you take the time to put one together.

While meteorologists still don’t know – exactly – where Irma is going, you can have peace of mind if you take the time to put together a kit. That way, no matter what Mother Nature throws at you, you’ll be ready.

Plus, putting together supplies now, makes certain that you won’t be stuck at the store. You don’t want to be in the long lines with everyone else, who waited to act, buying supplies at the last minute.
