Fronts, thunderstorms, and more fronts: Southeast US Forecast – 8/6/22

As we look at the weekend into Monday, a westward moving cold front will slowly move across the Southeast, bringing thunderstorms across the region. Thunderstorms will be widespread in Georgia on Saturday, Alabama on Sunday, and Mississippi on Monday.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the chance for pop up storms continues, with warm to hot temperatures present throughout the region.

Starting on Thursday, a trough will begin to dig into the Carolinas. It will be very pronounced by Friday. This will bring cooler temperatures into the Carolinas, Georgia, and eastern Tennessee. Thunderstorms will likely form ahead of the cooler air, although it is too soon to predict whether there will be a threat for severe storms.
