Good evening! To wind down yet another sultry and humid day, we’ve got a few storms on our radar. A few eastward moving systems are in between Memphis and Kosciusko, MS. There’s also a few storms in the area bounded by New Orleans, Jackson, and Alexandria, LA. Most of these storms should be fizzled out by around 9-10 tonight.

Despite the storms, temperatures are still pretty hot in some places, well over 90 in some parts of eastern Mississippi. Fortunately, these temperatures will continue to drop, eventually reaching the mid-upper 70s for most spots (pictured below).

Unfortunately, the air will be nearly saturated throughout the night, with the dew point temperatures nearly matching the actual temperature (mid-upper 70s). Depicted above is the dew point temperature anomaly forecast for tomorrow morning.

Moving into tomorrow, we’re expecting another hot and humid August day. Afternoon highs are expected to be in the mid-upper 90s for most spots.

Despite the heat and humidity, thunderstorm activity looks pretty sparse for tomorrow night. This is due to low relative humidity values at the 700 mb pressure level (mid-level atmosphere). This dry air will act as a lid on the rising moist and warm air in the lower levels and prevent thunderstorms from becoming too deep and powerful.
Some sea breeze storms are still possible where the southerly wind coming off of the Gulf of Mexico meet westerly winds associated with the ridge of high pressure we’re under. In other words, up to 100 miles away from the coastline.
