South Mississippi Forecast 7/26/21

It will be another hot day for South Mississippi with only a handful of showers and thunderstorms to help cool things down. The overall pattern will slowly change as we march through the week, and rainfall will be back in the forecast by midweek and as we head toward the weekend.

But for today and tomorrow, storms won’t be as numerous and temperature will be. Heat Index values up around 105 today and tomorrow, so if you have to work outside, please take plenty of breaks and drink a ton – and I mean it! – of water and have some sports drinks nearby, too, if possible.

By Wednesday as a trough trying to dig into the Northeast, we may end up on the east side of a stout ridge to our west which will allow the mid-levels to turn back to the northwest, opening the door for little convective complexes to push through the area.

Daily Timeline

Since the Saharan Dust is still trying hard to hold on and the ridge of high pressure is asserting itself juuuust enough, storms won’t likely start until around noon today and will end shortly after supper.

That may not be the case in the days to come as the Saharan Dust clears out and high pressure subsides. In fact as we head through the middle of the week, I expect storms to start as early as the late morning hours for some.
