South Mississippi Forecast 8/9/21: Things heating up locally and in the tropics

Around south Mississippi, temperatures will be climbing into the low 90s today, then into the mid 90s for most of the rest of the week. Heat Index values will be up over 100, too. This is a great week to drink a ton of water. If you have to work outside, or you know folks without easy access to air conditioning, make sure they are keeping themselves hydrated and have a place to cool off.

Meanwhile, out in the Tropics, Invest 93L and Invest 94L are floating around.

Both of these areas of interest show a better-than-20-percent shot of development during the next five days, but Invest 94L is probably the one worth watching more.

At this point, these are only warrant ‘caution’ but not much else. Just keep tabs on the forecast and double-check that Hurricane Kit. We will continue to monitor things. And will post a more in-depth tropical update as needed.
