Wildfire concerns today, nice weekend, storms next week: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 4/8/22

Things are looking breezy today, but nice. I will say this, though, the National Weather Service is a bit concerned about the potential for wildfires today – even given the recent rains. The air will be rather dry and the wind will be pretty gusty at times this afternoon and that is one of the key ingredients to spreading wildfires, so the NWS is asking that everyone avoid outdoor burning today.

Beyond that, the next chance for rain and storms arrives on, you guessed it, Wednesday of next week. The Storm Prediction Center has parts of the area highlighted with a Slight Risk for severe weather. And the CIPS Analogs show a chance for severe weather, too.

So, get out and enjoy the weekend, but keep this in mind as you head back to work next week.
