12/13/22 1145a Severe Weather Update: A county-by-county breakdown discussing the timeline and potential threats for the Southern MS/AL/LA region

The threat for severe weather is still in the forecast for later tonight and into tomorrow for the region. Heavy rain, flash flooding, strong wind, hail and tornadoes will all be possible.

This will come in two rounds for much of the area. One round will be during the overnight hours tonight and before the sun comes up tomorrow morning. The second round will be in the afternoon and evening tomorrow.

Today’s severe risk, through 6a tomorrow morning
Tomorrow’s severe risk through 6a on Thursday morning

The SPC is holding the Enhanced Risk for severe weather for much of the region. That is a “3” on the 1-to-5 scale where “5” is the highest risk for the most significant severe weather.

The general timeline looks like this:

The following forecast is for the region we cover. It is a county-by-county breakdown of what to expect and when given the latest available computer model data. This timeline and the potential threat may change slightly during the next 12-24 hours, depending on your location, so please keep tabs on the forecast and check back for updates.

During the highlighted times below, expect to deal with…

MANY SPOTS — Storms, Heavy rain, brief flash flooding, lightning, wind gusts up to 50mph, small hail

County-by-County Timeline

A quick reminder that this timeline doesn’t mean that the entire time it will be raining and storming. It is an attempt to give you the best window of opportunity for storms to be near you. A three to four hour window may only feature rain and storms for 30-45 minutes. But the goal is to highlight a window where the threat is higher than at other times.
