Summer is HERE. And Mother Nature is gonna make you feel it.

Heat indexes may top 100 the next couple days and this is just the beginning. The heat is only gonna get worse as we get into next week.

The jet stream is moving north for the summer as the ridge builds in over the south. This means hot and humid and not much else.

High pressure will remain locked in place for the foreseeable future. This will keep precipitation chances at bay as sinking air dominates the mid and upper levels of the atmosphere.

This will be great weather to go swimming and not much else. Make sure to drink plenty of water and make sure to breaks in the AC if you must be outside.

As always, we can’t rule out storms everywhere (the seas breeze may initiate a few near the coast) but for most places it’ll feel like being trapped in an oven but with a humidifier inside.

The heat won’t be super bad for the next couple days, but trust us, it’s coming.

Airport Forecasts

Houston (KIAH/KHOU)- No issues expected. Should just be hot and humid with no storms expected.

Shreveport (KSHV)- No issues anticipated. It’ll be hot and humid but shouldn’t have any weather delays.

Baton Rouge (KBTR)- Another good place to fly. No storms or other problems are expected.

New Orleans (KMSY)- Storms diminish as the sun sets. Tomorrow should be fine. There is a small chance of an isolated thunderstorm on Saturday which may bring a brief lightning delay, but most flights will be fine.

Jackson (KJAN)- Thunderstorms in the area will die off as the sun sets. After that it should be mostly sunny and dry (great flying weather).

Birmingham (KBMH)- After the thunderstorms die off this evening it should be all good. Mostly clear and good flying conditions.

Tallahassee (KTLH)- A bit more iffy. Thunderstorms are likely in the afternoon somewhere in the area both tomorrow and Saturday. There may be some delays for lightning or microbursts but nothing super long.

Atlanta (KATL)- A low chance of a stray storm or two during the next two afternoons (and therefore a lightning delay is possible) but most flights should be unaffected.
