A Fairly Calm Pre-Christmas Week Before More Possible Rain – MS/AL/LA Forecast 12/17/23

As we go forward to next week, we’ll see a relatively pleasant, seasonal week. Temperatures will range around the low 60s and upper 50s during the day with temperatures reaching the low 30s overnight.

Tuesday will be a second cold front coming from the last system we saw down in the Gulf which is making its way to the northeast (with a ton of warnings up the Atlantic!). Temperatures will briefly dip into the mid 50s before returning to the 60s again.

So far, the Euro and GFS models are showing possible precipitation for Friday and Saturday, however the strength and length of time the rain will hang around is the point of contention. The GFS has a fully formed occluded front that will bring rain through the weekend into Monday, but the Euro looks to extend this to Tuesday with the front not as fully formed until later. For now, it looks that there will be a chance of rain throughout Friday into the weekend.
