A Windy and Gloomy Start to the Weekend Followed by Sunny Skies – Forecast for MS/LA/AL 1/27/24

As we wake up after the severe weather has passed, we’ll see a time of relative calm in the next several days. Areas near the coast are still receiving quite a bit of rain as the low pressure system makes its way out into Alabama.

Afterwards it will be a fairly gloomy and windy day with low-level clouds presiding over us through the evening. Temperatures will climb to the 60s and quickly fade into the 50s with the cold front just behind the storm system. Winds will ramp up around 10 to 15 mph with 25 mph wind gusts possible.

Sunday will be equally as windy and temperatures will be much more on the seasonal side with highs reaching the upper 40s to low 50s across most of the deep south. Temperatures will dip into the 30s for the low overnight into Monday. By Monday we’ll go back to our more mild winter-like conditions with clear skies and temperatures in the mid 50s during the day.

Flood warnings across Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Alabama

One note I might add is some minor flood warnings across the area. With as much rain as we received over the week, several rivers will be draining that excess water out which means areas near the rivers such as roadways may likely be flooded. Rivers such as the Pearl, Alabama, Tombigbee, Yazoo, and Ouachita are all under minor flood warnings. Turn around, don’t drown.
