To kick off our 4th of July weekend, temperatures will remain well above average for this time of year, while precipitation hovers slightly below average. It’s looking to be a clear but hot weekend, perfect lake party weather if you ask me!

Currently, conditions seem to be following the recent trend of hot temperatures and a slight chance for isolated storms.
When you hear meteorologists mention scattered storms or isolated storms, you may wonder what the difference is. Well, isolated storms are individual, short-lived storms that impact a small portion of a coverage area, typically 5-20%. Scattered storms typically cover 30-50% of a coverage area and result in random, unpredictable downpours affecting residents neighborhood by neighborhood. While neither of these terms indicates a complete washout, localized effects could occur with both of these systems.

Our daytime high temperatures across the region are pretty consistent, and if anything, slightly cooler than temps this past week. Regardless, ensure you are staying hydrated and keeping cool, especially when participating in this weekend’s festivities.

Overall for our weekend precipitation forecast, isolated storms are possible alongside this heat wave. No organized systems are expected to develop, making it a perfect weekend for outdoor activities, as long as you are keeping yourself cool. I hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th!
