Hot conditions for today – Forecast refresh 6/29/2026

Howdy!

Below is my video forecast for today, make sure to take a look!

Looking out the window, we can see there is not much going on currently. No rain in the region, and little clouds. A heat advisory is in effect for most of Mississippi and Alabama, some parts of northeastern Louisiana. It’s going to be hot today!

Temperatures currently range in the low 90s across the region, dewpoints in the low 70s. Humidity levels are lower than average today, and heat index values could reach over 100 today, so keep that in mind when you are outside.

No change to the forecast since yesterday. The highs today will range in the mid 80s to mid 90s and very limited chances of rain for the region. The surface and upper-level ridging is keeping conditions hot, and a shower or thunderstorm cannot be ruled out for the afternoon in some areas, but most of the region will not see rain today.

Tomorrow, the chance for precipitation increases for eastern/southeastern Alabama as the upper-level ridging moves more northward and some shortwaves become embedded into the flow, triggering lift and opportunity to see some thunderstorms. Strong thunderstorms are possible, producing strong winds. This has not changed for the forecast.

The region is still mainly under major/moderate heat risk, near Hattiesburg is under extreme heat risk. This is just a reminder to keep hydrated when outside and try not to spend too much time in the sun today. Take care of yourself!

No changes to the forecast today/tonight! Make sure to enjoy the rest of your Monday!
