Isolated storms, otherwise hot while we monitor the Tropics: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 6/2/23

Buckle up, friends, this weekend looks warm! Afternoon highs will top out around 90 each day through the weekend and into next week with a few chances for an isolated storm to help cool things off.

All the while, we have eyeballs on a little system in the Gulf.

This isn’t likely going to bother us much more than circulating some extra humidity around with a few extra storms today before it moves far enough away that then it starts to pull down drier air from the northeast. That is the one benefit, I suppose, of having a tropical system nearby but not too close: it dries things out a bit.

The model guidance suggests this may curly-cue back to the northeast eventually, but isn’t likely to make it to Tropical Storm status.

If it does get a name, it would be the first named system of the year. We had an unnamed system earlier this Spring.

It does knock one system off the list for the forecast for the Gulf that I put out a week (or so) ago.

Other than the system in the Gulf, we should remain mainly dry through the next seven days with just a few afternoon storms here and there. Afternoon highs around 90, overnight lows around 65 to 70.
