Mild and Dry Week Ahead – Week Ahead Forecast for South MS/LA/AL 4/6/26

We’re back to a dry spell again as a large high pressure system will preside over the eastern US and stretch out across the north Atlantic. For us, that means a very limited chance of rain for the next several days as that system will quell much of the convective potential energy across not only the south, but much of the Atlantic coast. Needless to say, we’re going to be dry for a while and that may spark some fire weather in the near future.

Today

You’ll notice it’s a little cooler out this morning as the cold front passed earlier yesterday. We’ll only reach the low 70s across the Gulf South today with mostly cloudy skies. A northeasterly wind from the high pressure system will preside today, so bring a light jacket if you’re outside. It’ll be a little chilly outside this evening with temperatures in the mid 40s.

Tomorrow

The clouds will clear out tomorrow morning leaving us with a mild day overall. Temperatures will reach the mid to upper 70s with northeasterly winds still prevailing. A dry front will move in overnight keeping the low in the low 50s.

Wednesday

Expect another partly cloudy day on Wednesday as a few showers will develop on the MS/LA coastline. Areas further inland likely won’t see any rain, however. Otherwise, it’ll be another mild day with temperatures in the mid 70s and winds out of the east. Overnight, we’ll fall into the mid 50s.

Thursday and Friday

We’ll be back on the warming trend for Thursday and Friday as temperatures climb from the mid 70s on Thursday to the upper 70s on Friday. That’s a sneak peek into the weekend as we reach the low 80s, however low temperatures will remain the same which means it’ll still feel dry. We won’t expect much rain either as that high pressure system stretches further and stalls out the incoming fronts near the Rockies/Plains. So far, mid-Spring is looking dry and warm.
