Rain and storms possible Thursday, Marginal Risk for severe weather: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 1/10/23

The next system is still set to arrive on Thursday. We’ve got a chance for showers and storms to roll through in the morning and into the early afternoon.

The Storm Prediction Center is holding on to a Marginal Risk for severe weather across the region for Thursday. That is a “1” on the 1-to-5 scale where “5” is the highest risk for the most significant severe weather. The SPC has tagged points to the east of the area with a Slight Risk, which is a “2” on the same scale.

Right now, the timeline looks to be between 7a and 1p on Thursday. And the main threats look to be brief heavy rain, lightning, brief wind gusts up to 60mph and the chance for a brief, weak tornado or two.
