Rain exits this morning with more possible this weekend: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 1/19/22

The storms from last night are falling apart across Alabama this morning. As we continue to clear things out, know that today and tomorrow should be mostly dry. And that allow our focus to turn the next shot for storms this weekend.

So far, it doesn’t look like a big time severe weather event, but we may have some rumbles of thunder and heavy rain, at the very least. And speaking of heavy rain, the WPC has outlined our area with a Marginal Risk for flash flooding this weekend.

Right now it looks like this one may be a coastal low, which would leave the area on the “cooler” side of the system. We would still get rain and thunder, but we wouldn’t have to deal with the threat for severe weather and the risk for a tornado would be, basically, zero.

There is still a little wiggle room left in the data with respect to the storm track, so I’m not ready to jump on board with saying “no risk” for severe weather with this next system quite yet, but it is trending in that direction!
