Warm today & tomorrow, storms return Sunday into next week: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 5/20/22

It is going to be another warm one this afternoon. We will have some extra clouds and maybe a storm here or there, but for the most part, it is just going to be warm. Heat Index values today and tomorrow will be between 93 and 98 degrees.

Then storms roll into the area as we head through the weekend and into next week. Looking at the storm timeline, the best bet for rain arrives on Sunday.

Along with the rain is a Slight Risk for flash flooding from the Weather Prediction Center. This would be brief localized flash flooding that is a result of some of the stronger storms that develop and move through the area.

And flooding would be brief and last for only an hour or two, at most. Longer term river flooding is less likely.

And the chance for storms sticks around from Sunday through Monday and into Tuesday, too. Rainfall totals are still looking to be between 1″ and 4″ depending on location and some spots may pick up as much as 6″ of rain.

The good news is that these rainfall totals are spread across a few days. That means it won’t be raining the whole time, but it may feel like it given how much cloud cover will be around.
