Weekend still looks good, storms return next week: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 3/29/24

The weather is expected to remain calm and comfortable over the next 24 hours, with seasonable warmth as a surface ridge moves eastward across the Deep South. While high clouds may increase tonight due to a passing little system, we aren’t going to see any rain.

The nice weather should hold through the weekend and into next week.

However, by Tuesday, showers and thunderstorms are back in the forecast. So far there is still some question about how far south the threat for severe weather will push, but there is a reasonable chance. The CIPS Analogs suggest a pretty wide area looking at the potential for severe weather on Tuesday.

So far this still looks like a “rain and wind” event with a lower risk for tornadoes, but I’ll continue to monitor trends.

Then, behind the front, it will be slightly cooler with highs in the 60s to near 70 degrees.
