Hey everyone! It’s another Thursday, which means it’s time for your weekend vacation spot forecast! As a whole this weekend, we’re generally looking at nice weather, but we know the deal with those afternoon thunderstorms in the summertime…
I think it will be a nice weekend to go to the beach or the waterpark, given all of the heat and humidity that will be around, but be cautious at any time for a scattered shower or thunderstorm. It should also be a nice weekend to go to New Orleans and walk Bourbon Street, but again, keep an eye out on the radar and wear sunscreen, since the UV index will be extreme!

Regional Outlook
The setup is pretty typical for summer. High pressure stationed over the northeastern Gulf, which keeps things hot and mainly dry, but also funnels in extremely moist air from the Gulf around the flow of the high, making it feel sticky with dewpoints pushing into the mid-70s!

A stationary front will be positioned to our north, which will bring some heavy rain and severe weather to those in the Plains and Midwest, but no severe weather is expected for the deep south this weekend.

Check out the European models look at the rainfall coverage for each day this weekend below:

I personally think the Euro model is being a bit too bullish on the precip coverage each day this weekend. No day’s look like a washout, but each day could include some isolated brief heavy downpours with lightning, given the intense humidity that will be out there. Noah will have a better look at the rain chances tomorrow with his Weekend forecast, since the short-range models will be in range then.
Enjoy the weekend and remember to stay hydrated in the 100-105 degree heat indices!
