4/21/24 Weekly Outlook – A Mid-Spring Warm-up

With the rain and thunderstorms passing east, we’ll have a bit of chilly, windy, and milder weather for the next few days. With a stronger ridge building in the east, we’ll see a warm-up over the week and the ridge will also keep the storms from a cold front from moving in.

A strong ridge of high pressure will preside over the eastern US which will keep conditions fairly dry for the next few days. Temperatures will start to climb from the low 70s into the mid 80s by the end of the week. The ridge will move slowly to the east into the Atlantic, however, it will provide a barrier of sorts to keep us from getting rain come Thursday.

A weak cold front moving from the northern Rockies will move to the northeast over the week. This looks to mature over a few days, but with ridging overhead and the high pressure system to the east, we’re likely not to receive any rain from Thursday into the weekend. Despite this, we’ll still see a stream of warmer, more humid air due to the pull of the low pressure system, so expect conditions to feel a bit more summer-like as we reach the weekend. Come Monday, we might see another chance of storms as a low comes out of the Rockies in a similar fashion like Thursday’s front.
