Currently, skies are clear and the morning is quiet as distant storms fire up over the Gulf.

Last typical July day before we switch to rainy weather tomorrow. So expect sunny skies today. However, with dewpoints ranging from 73–77, it’s going to be hot, with feels-like temperatures as high as 107 possible.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are forming over the Gulf and will push inland this afternoon, mainly after 1 PM, bringing scattered showers and storms to coastal Louisiana and Mississippi. The strongest storms could produce brief heavy rainfall, gusty winds up to 40mph, and frequent lightning.

Highest rain totals today appear to be in southeastern Louisiana near Houma, New Orleans, and Thibodaux. Watch for ponding on roadways!
