This morning, skies are partly cloudy across southern Mississippi, while scattered thunderstorms are bringing periods of heavy rainfall to areas near Maurepas and Houma, Louisiana.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed Louisiana and most of Mississippi under a Marginal Risk (1/5) for severe storms today.

Surface dewpoints in the mid 70s will contribute to instability for storms, while also making it feel very humid today. Thunderstorms are expected to develop along the sea breeze front this afternoon and evening. A few storms may become strong to severe, with the main threats including localized flash flooding, damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph, small hail, and the possibility of a brief tornado.
