A great week, enjoy the weather: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 2/19/24

Nice to see another seven-day stretch without any “big” weathermakers! It looks like the forecast calls for spring(ish) conditions during the next week without any need to worry about any significant severe weather through at least Sunday.

Originally, there was some concern about severe weather on Thursday or Friday with a front that is set to kick through, but now it looks like any risk for storms has shifted to the east.

That takes us through the 25th of February with warmer temps. Meaning that “big cold shot” for the second half of February that other outlets were chirping about never materialized.

And no big shots of cold look to be on the horizon, either.

Temperature & Precipitation estimates from the EC-VAREPS

Looking at the longer-range guidance, we do have a few shots for some precip in the coming weeks, but nothing currently shown in the guidance includes any sub-freezing conditions for our area.

Looking at the CIPS Analogs guidance, it suggests the next chance for storms in our area is around the 27th/28th of February (a few days earlier than the EC-VAREPS above).

But it centers the highest risk for storms into parts of northern Alabama. So we will have to wait and see how things shake out.
