Cold morning, below-freezing temps and single digit wind chills last all day: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 12/23/22

Temperatures remain well below normal this morning – no surprise there, I suppose. Most folks are waking up with temperatures between about 13F and 18F. Some spots are still hovering around 20F. The wind is still blowing between 15mph and 20mph, so wind chill values around around zero in most spots.

Things aren’t going to warm up much today, so make sure you are good and bundled up if you have to go out and about. And if you can avoid being out, please stay home.

Roads this morning are – for the most part – drivable. But there are icy spots here and there – some visible, others black ice. So if you have to get out and drive, please take it easy on the roads.

And make sure you have an emergency kit in your car, just in case something happens and you’re stuck in your car or have to get out and walk somewhere.

Looking at morning temperatures and wind gusts, we will be well below freezing and still have sustained wind between 10mph and 20mph with gusts up to 30mph.

That means we will end up with wind chill values below 10F and down into the single digits below zero.

The below-zero wind chills should end by 10a but wind chills in – at least – the teens will hold through the day and into the overnight hours Friday and into Saturday morning.

Things start to moderate Saturday and into Sunday. And then as we move through next week we warm back toward normal.

  1. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas, Nick. Thank you for what you do for us! It’s VERY much appreciated.

  2. Got down to 16 at my location. Almost balmy when you compare to what the low was in 1989 when it got down to 4!
