Nice week, more rain this weekend: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 1/10/22

Things are looking much calmer today as the storms from this weekend continue to push away from the area, high pressure is building in behind them. That high pressure will hang around for a few days. In fact, it looks like most of the work week will be dry with highs in the 50s and 60s and overnight lows in the 30s and 40s.

The next chance for rain arrives next weekend – poor timing, if you ask me – with another front moving through the area Saturday and into Sunday with showers and storms possible again.

So far, it doesn’t look like any severe weather is possible. That said, I’ll continue to monitor things, just in case.

Looking out a bit further in time, the CIPS Analogs are actually pretty set on some cooler air settling across the area as we move through the middle of January and all the way out through the 23rd.

Extended Outlook data from CIPS Analogs

The above image is looking at the Day 6-9, Day 9-11, and Day 11-13 time period. All of those show cooler than average conditions with some chances for rain. Which means any warm up or chance for severe weather would be very brief and probably low-end, if at all.

So we may be able to sneak through most of January without having to worry about weekly threats for tornadoes. A nice change of pace!
