Showers and storms today, then a nice weekend with more storms next week: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 3/22/24

Just a quick forecast update this morning. I’m headed to a conference up at Mississippi State and will be on the road today.

Speaking of today! Today, we’re looking at widespread showers moving through our area, thanks to a low pressure system, with a slight chance of storms, especially south of Interstate 20. While severe weather isn’t highly likely, a few strong wind gusts could happen.

This system will also cool things down, with today’s highs cooler than recent days, in the upper 50s to upper 60s, and tonight’s lows in the upper 40s to mid-50s.

Over the weekend into next week, expect cool, dry conditions initially, then a warming trend as we face another weather system from the west, potentially bringing gusty winds on Monday and a chance of showers and storms into early Tuesday. This could include some severe weather threats like wind and tornadoes, depending on how things shake out.

After this system, we’re looking at a calm period, but by late next week, another system might bring more rain. Keep an eye out for updates as forecasts refine.
