South Mississippi Forecast 9/2/21

Temperatures across parts of South Mississippi are a bit more pleasant this morning. Still humid, still warm. But not as bad.

The storms that rolled through overnight were riding a cooler pool of air, but that cooler pool of air isn’t that “first cold front” that everyone hopes for. That cold front it probably still about 3 to 5 weeks out. And don’t worry, when I can see it coming, I’ll let you know.

Also, all that “cooler” and “drier” air that I’m sure you’ve been hearing a lot about on social media from a handful of regional outlets – as I tried to warn – isn’t looking as cool or as dry. Sorry.

Notice the temperatures from the short-range HRRR model have Friday morning temperatures around 70 with dewpoints in the upper 60s. While this model tends to run slightly warm and slightly humid, it still leaves the area with temperatures in the upper 60s and dewpoints in the mid 60s – at best.

It is going to be an improvement for sure! Just not as much of an improvement as everyone is hoping for. Nor as good as shown recently by a lot of folks who do this weather stuff for a living. I mean, that stuff gets clicks, but like, I wish they wouldn’t get everyone excited. Because its quite the let down when it doesn’t verify.
