Currently, the Atlantic Ocean has two areas to watch: Tropical Disturbance One in the central Atlantic and Tropical Disturbance Two in the eastern Atlantic.
Disturbance One has a 20% chance of formation over the next week. As of now, the disturbance is moving westward about several hundred miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. Development will most likely be around early to mid-week.
Disturbance Two has a 50% chance of formation over the next week. A tropical wave is expected to move off the coast of Africa early this week. As of now, the disturbance is moving westward about several hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. This disturbance seems to be more favorable for development.
The wind shear over the next week is moderate to strong in the Caribbean Sea, which is not favorable for tropical cyclone development. If the disturbances can develop in the Atlantic, the cyclones would struggle to stay organized with the tough journey ahead.
Still, we should check up on these disturbances throughout the week.
