What’s Left of the Severe Weather and What’s Ahead for Next Week

Well, the severe weather moved through the Pinebelt this morning around church time and the rain came in hot! We even had some hail reported! That’s also to say we’re not quite out of the clear yet. The cold front will be moving through overnight, but with it will be more rain, thunderstorms and wind into the overnight hours.

Next Week

The next few days after the cold front moves in, a strong surface ridge will build over the mid-South into the Canadian plains which will bring in much cooler than average temperatures. North winds pulling from the Great Lakes and Canadian plains will bring much cooler, drier air to the South which will make temperatures slightly cooler than average. Although the winds may kick up for the first few days next week due to the big change in temperature.

Friday is our next chance of rain and as of now, the SPC has not placed any sort of outlook on the system. The low pressure system is moving southeast through the Canadian Pacific into the Great Lakes and pulling in moisture from the Gulf to bring rain and thunderstorms. Since we’re already in a colder pattern for the week, there isn’t a lot of drastic temperature change build-up which means that the severe weather could be limited. Since dewpoints stay down until the system moves in, this could also inhibit severe development.
