11/20/23 930a Update: Severe weather possible tonight, a county-by-county breakdown of timeline and threats

REMINDER: The NickelBlock Forecasting app is available on both the Android and iOS store! You can download it for a constantly updated forecast, the best radar on the market, and the fastest alerts from the National Weather Service.

The Storm Prediction Center held the forecast overnight, leaving parts of the area under an Enhanced Risk for severe weather – a “3” on the 1-to-5 scale where “5” is the highest risk for the most significant severe weather.

That said, they did mention in their discussion that – depending on how the 12z data looked – they may need to revisit the forecast and increase the risk. Any movement in the risk would likely be across parts of Louisiana and far western Mississippi. I think the risk should hold for the i-59 corridor.

That said, whether or not they decide to increased (or decrease) the risk, doesn’t really change the potential impacts. It looks like just about everyone has a shot for some storms later tonight with brief heavy right, lightning, and gusty wind. Some storms may have some small hail, and other will have the potential to produce a tornado.

The timeline is – generally – between about 5pm and 2am. Storms will be isolated and scattered at first, and then a line of storms will slide through later this evening, before things clear out overnight and into tomorrow morning.

Below is a county-by-county breakdown for what to expect for the counties that are the heaviest users of the app. If you don’t see your county on there, please let me know and I can try to add it to the list.
