A few spotty showers, otherwise benign weather: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 3/7/23

Just a quick breakdown this morning as I’m running a bit behind after being up late last night at a talk by Neil DeGrasse Tyson.

In short: showers will be possible here and there. No big changes from the forecast from yesterday. Though, I do want to highlight that there is no “big shot of cold” coming anytime soon. And, honestly, I’ve got to say it looks like the only chance for anymore sub-40-degree-overnight-low temperatures will only be possible as a quick one-night-of-cold burst from a late season front.

In other words: You are most likely safe to put plants in the ground. So long as you have an emergency plan to cover them up for a night if we have a freak late-season frost.

Most plants are already out.

Spring has “sprung” about 10-20 days early across the South.

    1. So much! It was interesting to hear about how reactive the space program was to other countries. I’ve long known that while we fancy ourselves as pioneers in space, we did so simply to flex our muscles, not to do it for a greater good. But it was interesting to see the timeline laid out as it happened and to really get a good look at things from a purely factual perspective. It was a great talk.

      1. I guess it depends on whose greater good you’re talking about. It was a different time then. I, personally, ‘do’ believe we were ‘pioneers in space’.
