Cooler temperatures, but no real rain, arrive this weekend: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 10/2/23

Looking at the model guidance, we are seeing signs that the ridge is breaking down. And we may be opening the door to Fall.

After a long, long summer, we may be getting ready for our two to three weeks of fantastic Fall weather starting this weekend. Yes. This weekend!

The toughest part for us will be that it is so dry that the burn bans remain in effect and any outdoor burning should be avoided. Now, given the weather, a small firepit in the backyard making some smores seems like the perfect night… But it may not be the best decision given how easily wildfire will be able to spread.

Given that the area needs rain, I’ve been trying to track down some chances for precip and it looks like we may have a shot for storms again around October 12.

That said, the latest data suggests that it won’t be much rain. But we will continue to monitor things!

  1. Yeah, according to Tidbits, a tropical system of some sort, will move into southern Mexico, move NE, go across the coast of Texas, and into Louisiana and Mississippi around the 12th. This would bring rain to us AND you as well. Knowing that this is over a week away, I know it WILL change, but it’s hopeful. Oh, I ‘second’ what the previous person said … you ARE missed around here!!
