Rain moving out, cooler temperatures move in for the weekend: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 10/12/23

Today starts off mostly cloudy with some lingering drizzle and mist. By this afternoon the rain will end, and we will rebound into the lower 70s for most folks. Expect some northeast winds around 10 mph to keep things breezy. As we move into tonight, the cloud cover will persist, and temperatures will drop into the lower 60s. The northeast winds will continue but at a gentler 5 mph.

By the time you get up on Friday, we should have cleared the riff-raff out. That means mostly sunny skies. There’s still, I suppose, a slight chance of showers in the morning but I’m not overly concerned about it getting in the way for most anyone. If you’re headed out the door early enough, perhaps toss an umbrella in the car. Because we will be ahead of the next front, it won’t be as cool with highs reaching the lower 80s. The northeast winds will shift and become westward, hovering around 5 mph in the afternoon. The chance of rain is at 20 percent. And that number may even be a bit too high.

Friday night will bring mostly clear conditions, and great weather for Friday Night Football. Temperatures will hang around 70 to 75 at kick and drop into the mid-60s overnight. The big drop is due to a cold front moving through. The winds will change direction to the west after midnight. No rain is anticipated.

As we roll into Saturday, it’s looking sunny with highs in the lower 80s. but it may be a bit breezy. Saturday night will be clear, and cooler, with lows dropping into the lower 50s. Sunday continues the trend of sunny weather, but it will be a bit cooler with highs around 75. Sunday night remains mostly clear, with temperatures around 50.

Heading into Monday, the sunshine persists with highs in the lower 70s. Monday night will be clear with lows in the upper 40s, making for a crisp evening.

  1. Thank you Nick for the weekend forecast. My 7 year old granddaughter joined cub scouts this year and she( and papaw) will be going on her first camping trip and first time sleeping in a tent. Looks like weather is going to be perfect south MS weekend for camping. I hope you have a great weekend as well.
    Thanks from Hattiesburg
